One of the major problems faced by the seniors is hip pain, which is commonly treated by hip replacements. Hip replacement surgeries are criticized by some because of the defective hip devices like the ones manufactured by Johnson and Johnson’s DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. Affected patients have filed court charges against the company and the DePuy executives are set to testify at the federal ASR hip replacement trials.

Hip replacement surgery is usually resorted to by people who had severe hip damage, medical researchers say. The procedure involved the removal by the surgeon of the damaged cartilage and bone from your hip joint. It is then to be replaced with new, man-made parts. Most health care service providers recommend it upon the recurrence of hip pain or in the occurrence of a hip damage, especially when physical therapy, medicines and exercise do not help.
